The best thing about trends is how people interpret them. I love scrolling through Instagram, blogs and street style photos getting inspired by an individuals take on the new trend.
That is the reason why I love fashion because there isn’t one set rule. You make your own rule by taking a piece and putting your stamp on it. Whether you’re a minimalist or adventurous when it comes to your fashion choices we can all follow a trend and suit it to our style.
One trend I’m loving for A/W 17 is masculine tailoring. I’ve been incorporating this style into my wardrobe for quite some time. Gone are the days where I thought tight and short were the way forward. Oversized coats, white shirts, boyish blazers and sneakers have set up a shop in my closet.
When I spotted these baggy paper bag style trousers (Primark) I knew I had to add them to my ever growing collection. The style, the tailoring and the fit scream masculine tailoring to me. The cropped length perfect to team up with brogues or Chelsea boots. Tying it in at the waist perfect with an oversized shirt and loafers. Or pairing it with delicate lace and a leather jacket for a sexy androgynous look.
The colour gives it a softer edge which make it perfect for a stepping stone into masculine tailoring.
It may not be fully embracing masculine tailoring as seen on the Victoria Beckham AW17 catwalk show but I’d say for an everyday girl its pretty close.
How would you interpret this trend!?
